This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with organizational policies, internal procedures, and GAAP standards while managing financial reporting and record-keeping. The Controller will also oversee personnel record management, financial statement preparation, and cash flow management, playing a crucial role in maintaining financial stability.
Establish and maintain effective internal financial controls
Oversee financial record-keeping and reporting processes
Develop and present financial statements
Manage cash flow and produce audit work papers
Coordinate external audits and prepare state and federal tax filings
Maintain banking relationships and oversee financial regulatory compliance
Develop annual budgets with cost-saving recommendations
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate accounting team members
Establish procedures for personnel activities, including hiring, promotions, and terminations
Maintain benefits records (medical, dental, pension plans)
Report workplace incidents to insurance carriers and management
Ensure compliance with government agency reporting and labor regulations
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with at least 7 years of relevant experience
Proficiency in Yardi accounting software (mandatory requirement)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Expertise in financial modeling and Excel-based data analysis
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational, time management, and leadership abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Experience in construction or nonprofit accounting
Familiarity with Vision Point and Paycom software
Background in residential property accounting and audit compliance
CPA firm experience
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
We are looking for a results-driven leader with strong financial acumen and a commitment to operational efficiency. Proficiency in Yardi is a must. Candidates without Yardi experience will not be considered.
